Most hot plate stirrers top out at 310°C — fine for aqueous chemistry, unable to reach the viscosity-cracking, polymer-curing, high-boiling-point solvent work that actually pushes the tool hard. The PowerHT runs to 510°C across a Φ185 mm plate, with double over-temperature protection, an external PT1000 probe for closed-loop sample control, and a brushless DC motor inside a fully enclosed aluminum alloy housing built to take heat, spills, and years of continuous duty.
Why Real Heat and Real Plate Area Matter
Big beakers need big plates. Thick solvents need big heat. A 5" hot plate at 310°C is perfectly adequate for aqueous chemistry, but anything involving high-boiling solvents, polymer curing, ashing residues, or digestion chemistry runs into two walls simultaneously: not enough surface area to heat a large vessel evenly, and not enough peak temperature to drive the chemistry through.
The PowerHT's Φ185 mm stainless steel plate with ceramic coating gives you the footprint that a 5L beaker or an 8-inch round-bottom actually needs, and a 510°C ceiling with a 50–550°C safety cutoff that matches the chemistry. Stable mixing up to 20 L (H₂O) with an 80×Φ9.5 mm stir bar — the kind of scale where smaller units stop being tools and start being bottlenecks.
