Nucleic Acid Extractor
32-Throughput · Individual Heating Modules · Auto-Check
1–32 Samples / Run · Magnetic Bead Separation · Multiple Heating Zones with Independent Control · Touchscreen Interface · Auto-Verification
The MultiEX 032 doubles the MultiEX 016's throughput to 32 samples per run — and adds the feature that mid-volume diagnostic labs actually need: multiple heating modules with independent temperature control. That means lysis at one temperature and elution at another within the same run, no manual repositioning, no compromise on temperature accuracy. Auto-check function verifies correct positioning of the 96-well plate and magnetic rods before every run — eliminating the "I forgot to seat the plate" failure mode that costs labs days of repeat extractions.
Why Individual Heating Zones Beat a Single Heater
Most nucleic acid extraction protocols need two or more distinct temperatures in a single run. Lysis is typically run at 56–95°C (proteinase K activation, then heat-kill); elution is run at 65–80°C (release nucleic acid from beads); some viral and bacterial protocols add a third denaturation step at 95–125°C. A single-zone heater forces the whole plate through every temperature change — heating delays, cooling delays, and a thermal gradient across the plate that no real protocol tolerates well.
The MultiEX 032's individual heating modules let each zone hit its target temperature independently. The lysis zone hits 95°C while the elution zone holds 65°C, simultaneously. No waiting for the whole plate to ramp. No thermal gradient eating into your purification consistency. The result is faster overall run time, tighter inter-well CVs, and yields that match what you'd get from manual column purification — without the manual hours.
For decades, nucleic acid purification meant silica spin columns and centrifuges — pipette, centrifuge, transfer, repeat. It works, but it's slow, manual, and expensive in tech-time per sample. Worse, every transfer step is a chance for contamination, sample loss, or operator error. For a lab processing more than a few samples a day, the column workflow is the bottleneck.
Magnetic-bead extraction flipped the model. Magnetic beads coated with silica or specific affinity ligands bind nucleic acids in solution. A magnet pulls the beads (with bound nucleic acid) to the side of the well; the rest of the sample is washed away. Elution releases the purified nucleic acid in a small volume. No centrifuges. No transfer steps. No spin columns. Done in parallel, fully automated, with recovery rates of 95%+ and inter-well CVs typically below 3% — directly comparable to gold-standard column purification, but at a fraction of the hands-on time.
The MultiEX series automates the entire process: load the prepped 96-well plate, set the protocol on the touchscreen, walk away. The machine handles bead capture, washes, elution, and final dispense into a fresh plate ready for downstream analysis (PCR, qPCR, NGS, sequencing). UV disinfection between runs eliminates cross-contamination. Multi-temperature heating modules handle lysis and elution at the precise temperatures that maximize yield without nucleic acid degradation.
32-Sample Throughput
Process up to 32 samples per run in a single 96-well plate. Magnetic-bead capture, washes, elution, and dispense — fully automated, hands-off after plate loading.
Independent Heating Modules
Multiple heating zones with individual control — lysis at one temperature and elution at another, simultaneously. Eliminates the thermal gradient and ramp-time penalty of single-zone heaters.
Auto-Check Function
Auto-verification before every run — confirms correct positioning of the 96-well plate, magnetic rods, and rod sleeves. Catches setup errors before they cost you a batch.
Universal Sample Compatibility
Magnetic-bead extraction from whole blood, viruses, tissue, plants, animals, fungi, bacteria, cultured cells, swabs, feces, blood cards — one extractor handles every sample type your lab encounters.
"32 samples. Two heating zones running simultaneously. Auto-checked before every run. The mid-throughput extractor that actually thinks about the protocol." — For diagnostic and research labs running 20–60 samples per shift, the MultiEX 032 hits the sweet spot between throughput, temperature flexibility, and bench footprint.
