Surge Scientific · Model OH301 · Handheld Rotor-Stator Homogenizer

Handheld Rotor-Stator Homogenizer
160 W · 8,000–30,000 RPM · One-Handed

0.1 mL to 250 mL Sample Range · 10 Speed Levels · 316L SS Autoclavable Probes · Interchangeable 5/7/10 mm · 1.54 lb

The homogenizer that lives in your hand, not on a stand. The OH301 delivers 160 W of brushless DC torque at 8,000–30,000 RPM across 10 speed levels — enough shear force to lyse cells, homogenize soft tissue, and emulsify biological samples from 0.1 mL up to 250 mL depending on the probe you mount. 316L stainless steel generator probes (5 mm, 7 mm, or 10 mm) are fully autoclavable and interchangeable in seconds — one motor handles the full range from microtubes to beakers.

Why Rotor-Stator Is the Right Tool for Small-Batch Work

For the common lab homogenization task — lyse a cell pellet, break up a tissue sample, emulsify a 50 mL prep — the right tool isn't always a bead mill or a glass homogenizer. Bead mills are great for high-throughput plates but overkill for a single sample. Glass Dounce grinders preserve organelles but are slow and manual. Rotor-stator homogenization sits in the middle: fast, efficient, and scales from microtubes to 250 mL beakers by swapping the probe.

The mechanism is straightforward. The rotor spins inside a stationary stator at high RPM — up to 30,000 RPM, delivering 6.3–14 m/sec linear rotor speed. The gap between rotor and stator creates a suction effect that draws the sample through a narrow annular space, where it meets high shear forces that rupture cell walls, break up tissue structure, and create emulsions in seconds. The OH301 does this at 1.54 lb total weight — so it's comfortable for extended one-handed operation, or can sit in a stand for longer processing runs.

💪

160 W · 30,000 RPM

160 W motor drives rotor speeds from 8,000 to 30,000 RPM across 10 speed levels. Handles viscosity up to 5,000 mPas — soft tissue, cell suspensions, emulsions, small-volume formulations.

📐

0.1 mL to 250 mL Range

Three interchangeable probe sizes — 5 mm, 7 mm, 10 mm — cover the full volume range. 5 mm for microtubes (0.1–50 mL), 10 mm for beakers (1–250 mL). One motor, full versatility.

🔬

316L SS · Autoclavable

Probes made of 316L stainless steel — pharma-grade, corrosion-resistant, and fully autoclavable. Tool-free disassembly for thorough cleaning between sample types.

1.54 lb · One-Handed

Lightweight ergonomic design (1.54 lb) for comfortable extended one-handed operation. Also stand-compatible for longer runs. On/off switch lets speed stay dialed-in between uses.

"One motor. Three probes. From 0.1 mL microtubes to 250 mL beakers — no setup, no stand, no compromise." — The OH301 is what a rotor-stator should be: fast, versatile, and in your hand where it belongs.
