Surge Scientific · Model DBI100C
Heat / Cool Dry Block
Incubator
Active Cooling · Heating · Static Incubation · Ambient −15°C to 100°C · Interchangeable Blocks
Water baths require filling, emptying, and contamination management. Standard dry block incubators only heat. The DBI100C does neither — it heats and actively cools a dry aluminum block to Ambient −15°C using semiconductor Peltier technology, delivering precise static incubation across the full temperature range your protocols demand, without a drop of water or a separate cooling unit.
Static Incubation. Full Temperature Range.
Many laboratory protocols require precise temperature-controlled incubation without agitation — antibody binding, enzymatic digestion, cell lysis, sample preservation, and heat-inactivation steps where mixing would disrupt the reaction or the sample itself. Conventional dry block incubators cover these needs above ambient temperature, but fall short the moment a protocol calls for sub-ambient holding temperatures. Chilling samples on ice is imprecise. Transferring to a cold room interrupts workflow.
The DBI100C solves this with a single benchtop instrument. Its semiconductor cooling system drops the block to Ambient −15°C — cold enough for enzyme storage temperatures, cold-room substitution, and cryoprotectant steps — while the same microprocessor that controls cooling also maintains any temperature up to 100°C with ±0.2°C accuracy. One instrument, one footprint, the entire temperature range.
Active Semiconductor Cooling
Peltier semiconductor technology actively drives block temperature to Ambient −15°C — no ice, no cold room, no external chiller required. Cools to 4°C for enzyme-storage temperatures, or holds sub-ambient setpoints throughout long incubation windows without temperature drift.
Precision Temperature Control
Microprocessor control delivers ±0.2°C accuracy at 20–40°C and ±0.5°C uniformity across the block. Four programmable heating rates and four programmable cooling rates let you ramp between temperatures at controlled speeds — preventing thermal overshoot that denaturing or precipitates sensitive samples.
Programmable Multi-Step Sequences
Up to 5 sequential temperature steps with independent setpoints and hold times. Cycle up to 999 times. Pre-heating function warms the block to your target before samples are loaded. Power failure recovery resumes automatically from the last completed step — protecting unattended overnight protocols.
Dry Block — No Contamination Risk
Unlike water baths, the DBI100C uses direct aluminum block contact for heat transfer — no liquid medium, no cross-contamination, no evaporation, no daily cleaning of a water reservoir. Swappable aluminum alloy blocks auto-detected on installation support tube formats from 0.1mL to 50mL.
From 4°C enzyme storage to 95°C heat-inactivation — without moving the samples. Programme a multi-step sequence that holds at 4°C, ramps to 37°C for incubation, then climbs to 95°C for heat-inactivation, all in one unattended run. The DBI100C executes the full protocol in the same block the samples were loaded into at the start.
