The MultiEX 024L is the specialized large-volume extractor for nucleic acid workflows that standard 200–1000 µL extractors physically cannot handle. Process up to 8 mL of starting sample per well and elute as low as 50 µL — a 160-fold concentration ratio that makes vanishingly low-abundance targets like cfDNA from liquid biopsy plasma, pathogen DNA from wastewater, and circulating tumor DNA finally detectable. Powerful oscillation mixing combines vortex action up to 3000 RPM within each well plus linear back-and-forth plate mixing — the kind of agitation 8 mL of viscous biological sample actually requires.

Why Large-Volume Extraction Is a Different Tool, Not a Bigger One

Standard nucleic acid extractors max out around 200–1000 µL of input volume per well. That works fine for whole blood DNA extraction, viral RNA from swabs, tissue homogenates — anywhere the target nucleic acid is reasonably abundant in the starting material. It does not work when your target is at femtogram-per-mL concentrations and your starting sample is biological fluid.

Cell-free DNA (cfDNA) in plasma exists at concentrations of 1–100 ng/mL — and the diagnostic signal often comes from 0.1–5% of that cfDNA being tumor-derived. To detect it, you need to start with 5–10 mL of plasma, not 200 µL. Pathogenic DNA in wastewater for environmental surveillance — SARS-CoV-2, polio, antibiotic-resistance genes — is similarly diluted and requires multi-mL starting volumes to hit detection thresholds.

The MultiEX 024L is engineered specifically for these workflows. 8 mL maximum processing volume per well across 1–24 samples per run, with elution down to 50 µL for a concentration ratio of 160:1. The mixing system — 3000 RPM vortex action within each well plus linear back-and-forth plate mixing — keeps 8 mL of viscous fluid genuinely mixed instead of stratifying. Magnetic-bead capture, washes, elution, and dispense are all automated; the only manual step is loading the prepped plate.
