Surge Scientific · Model TMX100C · Thermal Mixer — Heating + Cooling

Thermal Mixer
Heating & Cooling · –15°C to 100°C

Semiconductor Peltier Cooling · 300–1500 RPM · 2 mm Orbital · LCD Touchscreen · Auto-Detect Modules · 99h Timer

The single unit that replaces a shaker on ice, a cold room cycle, and a dry bath. The TMX100C pairs semiconductor Peltier cooling down to –15°C with precise heating to 100°C, 2 mm orbital mixing at 300–1500 RPM, and programmable heat/cool/mix sequences on a single LCD touchscreen. Samples that need to chill during a reaction, or drop below room temperature for cold-sensitive enzyme work, stay in one unit through the whole protocol.

Why Semiconductor Cooling Changes What a Mixer Can Do

Cold-sensitive protocols traditionally force a compromise: put samples on ice with no mixing, or mix them on the bench and accept the temperature drift. Neither is honest science. Ice-bath work runs at 0°C but has zero agitation; a bench-top mixer has agitation but can't hold the sample below ambient. Anything requiring both — oligonucleotide hybridization at 4°C, cold-active enzyme kinetics, low-temperature antibody binding — ends up needing a cold room cycle that adds an hour per step.

The TMX100C uses semiconductor Peltier technology to actively chill the block below ambient — all the way to –15°C — while the brushless DC drive mixes at 300–1500 RPM. Programmable heat/cool/mix sequences let you run a protocol like "chill to 4°C, mix 10 min, ramp to 37°C, mix 30 min, ramp to 95°C" — unattended, in one unit, with auto-resumption if the power hiccups.

❄️

–15°C to 100°C Range

Semiconductor Peltier cooling drives the block down to –15°C. Heats to 100°C. Replaces the ice bath, cold room cycle, and dry bath with one programmable instrument.

🌀

300–1500 RPM · 2 mm Orbital

Brushless DC drive delivers 300–1500 RPM with a 2 mm orbital amplitude. Gentle enough for cell suspensions at 300 RPM, aggressive enough for full mixing at 1500 RPM.

📋

Programmable Sequences

Program full heat / cool / mix sequences — chill, mix, ramp, hold, repeat. Auto-resumption after power failure picks up where the protocol left off.

🔲

Auto-Detect Modules

Interchangeable block modules with automatic detection. The unit recognizes which block is installed and loads the right calibration — no manual configuration, no wrong-block errors.

"Chill to 4°C. Mix 10 min. Ramp to 37°C. Mix 30 min. Ramp to 95°C. Unattended." — The TMX100C is what lets a protocol like that live in one instrument instead of three pieces of equipment and two transfers.

Ideal Applications

🧬

Cold-Sensitive Protocols

Oligonucleotide hybridization at 4°C, cold-active enzyme kinetics, antibody binding assays, and cold-room work that demands active mixing during chilled incubation.

🧪

Multi-Temperature Protocols

Ligation (4°C), digestion (37°C), heat-kill (65°C), denaturation (95°C) — run the entire sequence on one unit, unattended, with auto-resumption.

💊

Sample Preservation

Hold precious samples at 4°C with gentle mixing for protein stability, cell suspension work, and overnight storage during a multi-day protocol.

What's in the Box

The TMX100C ships ready to run — heating blocks are sold separately. The auto-detect system recognizes any block in the 30+ catalog, so swap between microtubes, 15 mL tubes, PCR plates, or cuvettes without reconfiguring the unit.
